The Virtual Map Forum is an IT system for researching and inventorying large historical map collections in space and time. It includes tools for georeferencing historical old maps from the SLUB collection as well as tools for researching, visualizing and analysing maps in 2D and 3D.

The BaumCloud is a database for urban trees that brings together open data on the tree population of municipalities throughout Germany in a standardized database. This data is available to the public and can be used for scientific evaluations, studies or informative web applications.

The KEK's emergency networks map helps connecting cultural institutions, improve the visibility of emergency associations and provide support in emergencies. Emergency networks can be researched in an interactive map and their capabilities and associated partner institutions can be queried.

The WebGIS solution SmartGlobeIQ supports companies in the planning of power lines and infrastructure projects. PIKOBYTES supports Arcadis in the operation and further development of this application.

The HoWa-PRO project is developing new ways of predicting the risk of flooding caused by heavy rainfall. One focus is the user-friendly presentation of the hazard with special consideration of the forecast uncertainties. For HoWa-PRO, we have created an interactive map application that depicts the flood hazard in real time.

Securing the water supply in Saxony: Through the VAGRO project, we are combining hydrological research with digital cloud technology to create a modern tool for resilient water management.

“Location, location, location” is an old piece of real estate wisdom that is still valid today. For an international real estate group, we have created individual portfolios for 1.7 million Swiss house addresses based on freely available data.

Our soils are an important resource and their better protection is a strategic goal of Germany and the EU. We have transferred Germany-wide individual and project databases on soil quality into a central soil database for the Federal Environment Agency.

Pollutants in the environment are a problem - especially if they are particularly toxic or stable over the long term. We modernized the data model for the federal government's POP-dioxin database, cleaned up the old database and then rebuilt it in a maintainable and future-proof way.

How can freely available remote sensing data help optimize fertilization strategies or predict crop yields? On behalf of the LfULG, PIKOBYTES investigated the practical applications of these digital resources for modern agriculture.

Smart meters are an important technology in implementing the energy transition. For the gas supply sector, PIKOBYTES and Utilitools GmbH are developing an adapter in the BestGAS project that can be used to connect existing gas meters to a smart meter gateway.

The urban climate in Jena and other cities in Thuringia is measured with sensor nodes on trams and municipal waste collection vehicles. This way, we can help the MOBImess project to obtain high-resolution data on urban heat stress — with challenging demands on the operation environment and installation.

We use more than 200 of our own sensors to measure Dresden's urban climate in the KLIPS project. With the measurement network, we are supporting the city of Dresden in climate adaptation and helping to develop AI-supported prediction models for urban heat load.

From spot measurements to comprehensive maps: PIKOBYTES uses AI-based models and feature engineering to generate high-resolution meteorological data for urban heat mitigation.
